The Government of
Guatemala has just issued a state of emergency concerning its
coffee industry. 70 percent of its crop of fine coffee could be affected by a
fungus that has been attacking the coffee crop. The effect on the Guatemalan
coffee industry could reduce the national out put by as much as 40 percent over
the next year or so.
